I love food. It makes me happy and reminds me of my family, so I wrote and illustrated a guide book featuring the best restaurants in the Treasure Valley. The illustrations in this book are all made with hand-cut paper and highlight some of the standout dishes at local restaurants. The different colors represent different cities and are consistent throughout the book.
Process
The book was built around the concept of paper illustrations, so I pulled some images to use as inspiration as well as some of my previous work. From there, I did some rough sketches of some layout ideas and worked on a map that would make sense for the style.
Once I had my content planned out, I was able to start making the illustrations. Each one took about 2 hours, but it really depended on what food I was doing and how detailed it needed to be.
